Healthy Parrot Sprouting Mix 500g - Best Behaved Birds

Our Healthy Parrot Sprouting Mix combines a blend of human grade legumes and seeds.  This mix is easily sprouted to create a natural, easily digestible and bioavailable source of protein for your bird to enjoy. Sprouting is a great tool for diet conversion, and is similar to some of the things that parrots would eat in the wild.

Ingredients:

Mung Beans, Brown Lentils, Pea Seeds, Green Lentils, Chickpeas, Aduki Beans, Broccoli Seeds, Radish Seeds, Fenugreek Seeds, Alfalfa Seeds.

To prepare the sprouting mix:

1. Measure your desired portion into a sprouting jar with a mesh lid for drainage.
2. Rinse until he water runs clear, then fill the jar with cool water, and soak the mix overnight.
3. In the morning, rinse until the water runs clear.
4. Add 8-10 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) and fill the jar with water.
5. Leave this to sit for up the 5 minutes, then drain the water.
6. Set your jar at a downwards 45 degree angle to drain excess water and start the sprouting process.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 twice a day as the blend sprouts.
8. Once little white tails appear, you can start to serve the sprouts.
9. Either serve from the sprouting jar each day as they continue to grow, or sprout enough for a few days, and store in an air tight container in the fridge.

SPROUTING SAFETY: Reduce the risk of mould forming by using the GSE dunk in steps 4-5. Always smell and visually inspect your sprouts before serving them to your bird. If in doubt, throw it out!

Please note: This blend is suitable for sprouting only. Do not feed dry, and do not only soak it. Some grains such as quinoa may sprout overnight during the soak which is normal!

Serving suggestion:

Combine with your parrot’s usual food to create a diverse and varied diet. Start by adding one teaspoon per small bird, two teaspoons per medium bird or three teaspoons per large bird, alongside the other food that your bird eats. Adjust accordingly based on the other components in your bird’s diet. Weigh your bird regularly to ensure they are maintaining a healthy weight. Always offer alongside fresh, clean water, and replenish food with a fresh portion daily.
